Competitive procurement has enabled the Millennium Forum to modernise its audio infrastructure while aligning specialist supplier expertise with the venue’s long-term operational requirements.

The Millennium Forum in Derry/Londonderry has appointed Rea Sound to deliver a major audio system upgrade following a competitive public procurement process. The project forms part of the venue’s wider investment in its facilities and technical infrastructure as it approaches its 25th anniversary.

For procurement teams, the project provides an example of how competitive tendering can be used to identify specialist suppliers for technically complex infrastructure requirements. Rea Sound's proposed solution was selected after being assessed as the strongest technical fit for the Millennium Forum's specific operational requirements, according to the project announcement.

The upgrade is centred on the venue's 1,000-plus-seat auditorium, where consistent audio coverage across the building was a key requirement. The procurement therefore extended beyond the purchase of individual equipment, with supplier capability and the suitability of the overall technical solution forming part of the selection process.
