Uisce Éireann secured the Best Education, Training or People Development Award at the National Procurement Awards 2025 last year for its Supply Chain Training Programme, an initiative designed to elevate procurement capability through targeted learning, structured development, and measurable outcomes.

The programme was developed in collaboration with Uisce Éireann’s Supply Chain team and is grounded in the EU’s 2017 Procurement Competency Framework. Delivered through a phased approach, it features a tailored curriculum aligned with organisational priorities and a customised Procurement Competency Framework that supports long-term skills development across procurement functions.

Structured around five focused modules and supported by a robust quarterly delivery plan, the programme has enabled consistent capability building while maintaining strong engagement levels among participants. Its design ensures learning objectives are closely aligned with operational needs, supporting both individual progression and organisational performance.

Judges highlighted the programme’s clarity of structure and demonstrable impact. “Our judges praised this entrant’s dynamic and impactful development programme. With five targeted modules, measurable outcomes, and a robust quarterly plan, it empowers staff while driving tangible growth and capability. Strong engagement and positive feedback underline its effectiveness, making it a standout example of strategic people development,” the judging panel noted.

The recognition reflects the evolving standards of the National Procurement Awards, where excellence in people development is increasingly defined by strategic alignment and practical delivery. Uisce Éireann’s achievement underscores the role of structured training in strengthening procurement effectiveness across the sector.

As momentum carries forward from the 2025 winners, focus now shifts to the next awards cycle, where organisations will be challenged to push sustainable procurement, innovation, and policy-aligned impact even further. Who will define the next standard for procurement leadership in 2026?
