Transport Infrastructure Ireland has launched procurement for MetroLink works at Dublin Airport, including construction of the airport station box and tunnel portals, alongside retaining wall and foundation works at Glasnevin Station. The M120 Framework contract marks a critical step in MetroLink's progression from design to construction, with TII leading procurement as the contracting authority.

Business Plus reported that the procurement process comprises two separate lots based on contract value, with Lot 1 covering complex civil works estimated at €50 million or more and Lot 2 covering works valued at €50 million or less. Five applicants will be shortlisted per lot during prequalification assessment, with a maximum of three tenderers appointed to each lot.

The Dublin Airport station box represents a foundational structure for MetroLink, enabling subsequent tunnelling and fit-out works as the programme progresses. The procurement scope encompasses design and build of heavy works, site setup and clearance, logistics management and safety coordination across all construction activities.

Minister for Transport Darragh O'Brien said: "The launch of the contract notice for key works at Dublin Airport ensures that the MetroLink programme continues at pace. MetroLink has the potential to be a transformative project, that will support housing delivery, economic growth and reduced emissions, while addressing long-standing congestion challenges."

Lorcan O'Connor, chief executive of TII, said: "The delivery of enabling works at the airport marks a critical step in progression from design to construction. Our focus is on ensuring that these complex early-stage works are carefully sequenced, fully integrated with wider transport infrastructure plans, and delivered to the highest standards of safety and efficiency."
