Northern Ireland procurement technology company Penny AI has announced a partnership with SAP Ariba aimed at helping businesses strengthen Local Content compliance while expanding into Saudi Arabia's rapidly growing procurement market.
According to the Belfast News Letter, the collaboration integrates Penny AI's Local Content platform directly into SAP Ariba, enabling companies operating in Saudi Arabia to monitor, manage and improve compliance with the Kingdom's Local Content regulations through their existing procurement systems.
The partnership is expected to support Northern Ireland and Irish businesses pursuing opportunities created by Saudi Arabia's Vision 2030 investment programme, which spans sectors including construction, engineering, healthcare, life sciences, manufacturing, digital technology and professional services.
Local Content requirements have become an increasingly important element of procurement across Saudi Arabia, particularly for organisations bidding for government and major private sector contracts. Companies are now expected to demonstrate measurable contributions to the local economy alongside competitive pricing, quality and technical capability.
By embedding Local Content intelligence into SAP Ariba's procurement platform, the integration allows procurement teams to measure compliance using live purchasing data, identify opportunities to increase local sourcing and make procurement decisions that better align with Saudi regulations.
The technology also reduces reliance on manual reporting by providing continuous visibility of Local Content performance, helping organisations strengthen compliance while supporting supplier management and procurement planning.
Henry Joseph-Grant, Vice President of Global Penny AI, said Saudi Arabia continues to represent one of the strongest international growth markets for Irish exporters, but noted that long-term success increasingly depends on demonstrating value within the Kingdom's economy. He said the integration provides businesses with real-time visibility of their Local Content performance, allowing procurement teams to make more informed sourcing decisions while supporting Saudi Arabia's localisation objectives.
The partnership reflects the growing role of procurement technology in supporting international market expansion, as organisations increasingly use digital platforms to manage supplier compliance, improve procurement visibility and meet evolving localisation requirements in strategic global markets.
