Marks & Spencer has signed a retail supply agreement with a Monaghan-based egg producer to supply its Irish stores, strengthening the retailer's Irish egg sourcing strategy. The partnership supports local agricultural production in County Monaghan whilst meeting M&S's quality and welfare standards for egg procurement across its Irish retail network.

Agriland reported that the agreement provides the Monaghan producer with a long-term supply contract, enabling investment in production capacity and flock management. The partnership reflects M&S's commitment to Irish sourcing where quality and supply reliability meet the retailer's procurement requirements.

The egg supply agreement covers free-range eggs meeting M&S's animal welfare specifications, including requirements for outdoor access, stocking densities and hen welfare monitoring. The Monaghan producer will supply eggs directly to M&S distribution channels serving stores across the Republic of Ireland.

Retail egg procurement in Ireland has become increasingly competitive as supermarkets seek to differentiate on provenance, welfare standards and supply chain transparency. M&S positions its egg offering on quality and traceability, with sourcing partnerships supporting these brand attributes.

The Monaghan partnership provides the producer with volume certainty and pricing visibility, supporting farm business planning and investment decisions. Long-term retail supply contracts enable egg producers to finance production infrastructure including hen housing, packing facilities and welfare monitoring systems.

M&S operates multiple stores across Ireland, with food retail representing a significant component of its Irish business. The retailer's procurement strategy emphasises partnerships with Irish suppliers across fresh produce, meat, dairy and eggs, supporting both brand positioning and supply chain resilience.

The agreement adds to M&S's portfolio of Irish agricultural partnerships, strengthening the retailer's local sourcing credentials whilst providing the Monaghan producer with access to a premium retail market.
