Lidl Ireland has announced a €7.5 million supply agreement to export Cavan-produced Irish grass-fed beef to Lidl stores across 26 European markets throughout 2026, expanding from an existing 17-country footprint. The deal, executed in partnership with Liffey Meats, increases Lidl Ireland's total contract value with primary Irish beef suppliers to €100 million, with annual Irish beef export value rising to €35 million.

Breaking News.ie reported that the procurement agreement will showcase premium Angus beef cuts including 32-day aged fillet, rib eye, sirloin and striploin steaks across Lidl's European store network in Germany, France, Italy, the Netherlands and Finland. The international promotion commences in March, reflecting Lidl's strategy of sourcing from Irish producers whilst facilitating their growth in international markets.

Liffey Meats, based in Cavan, operates as Lidl Ireland's largest Irish beef supplier through a partnership spanning over 20 years. The supplier relationship has positioned Liffey Meats as a cornerstone of Lidl's beef procurement supply chain, with the Cavan facility supplying both domestic Irish stores and export markets.

The partnership incorporates the Lidl Sustainable Beef Programme, a joint initiative supporting over 20 Irish beef farmers in implementing sustainable farming practices. The programme addresses environmental performance alongside quality and traceability requirements across the supply chain.

Kevin Duffy, chief commercial officer at Lidl Ireland & Northern Ireland, said: "At Lidl Ireland, we are immensely proud of our crucial role as a gateway for Irish suppliers to reach international markets. Irish beef is a global gold standard, and through this major promotion, we are bringing a wide range of premium cuts to Lidl customers in 26 countries across Europe."
