Enterprise Ireland and Northwell Health have signed a transatlantic partnership aimed at accelerating growth of Irish health technology companies in the United States through procurement contracts, clinical trials and investment opportunities. The strategic alliance, witnessed by Minister for Enterprise Peter Burke in New York, builds on an existing relationship dating back to 2016 and supports commercialisation and scaling of Irish life sciences and medtech firms.

Business Plus reported that Northwell Health, one of the largest healthcare providers in the United States, is already working with 18 Enterprise Ireland-backed companies. The collaboration has delivered outcomes including procurement contracts, clinical trials and investment through Northwell's venture arm.

The renewed agreement provides Enterprise Ireland client companies with continued access to Northwell's network of 28 hospitals and more than 1,000 outpatient facilities, alongside clinical and commercial expertise. The partnership creates a structured pathway for Irish healthcare technology firms seeking to establish commercial operations and secure procurement contracts within the US healthcare system.

Minister Burke said the partnership offers Irish firms a "critical gateway" into the US healthcare system, adding that Ireland's life sciences sector is continuing to grow strongly. Elaine Brennan, executive director of global strategic partnerships at Northwell, said the organisation's international programme has proven effective in helping Irish companies establish themselves in the US, pointing to tangible outcomes including pilot programmes and strategic investments.

Enterprise Ireland executive director Kevin Sherry said the deal reflects the strength of Ireland's research and development ecosystem, noting that the country recorded €491 million in life sciences and healthtech venture capital investment in 2024 despite a broader global slowdown.
