Boeing appoints former UK defence procurement minister to lead UK business
Boeing has appointed Jeremy Quin, former UK Defence Procurement Minister, as president of its UK and Ireland operations. Quin, who served in the UK government from February 2020 to September 2022, will assume the role on 21 November, succeeding Maria Laine.
Quin previously chaired the House of Commons Defence Select Committee and advised the Labour government’s Strategic Defence Review. His appointment brings direct government procurement expertise to Boeing, potentially strengthening its engagement with defence contracts and policy developments across the UK and Ireland.
Additionally, Thom Breckenridge has been named managing director of Boeing Defence UK, taking over from Steve Burnell, who retires after three years. This leadership reshuffle signals Boeing’s intent to strengthen its operational execution and maintain alignment with national defence procurement priorities in the UK and Ireland.
Boeing’s move comes amid growing competition in defence contracting and increasing emphasis on cost-effective procurement, technology integration, and multinational collaboration.
Quin’s appointment is expected to accelerate Boeing’s engagement with government clients, improve procurement coordination, and provide strategic insight into future defence projects, including unmanned systems, aircraft upgrades, and collaborative training programs.
The move reinforces Boeing’s commitment to experienced leadership in its UK and Ireland defence operations, aligning business objectives with national and regional defence needs.
