Industry NewsBidReview launches platform to improve Irish SME tender competitiveness
BidReview, an Irish platform designed to introduce independent review into the tendering process, has launched to help small and medium-sized enterprises assess bid quality before submission to public procurement competitions. The platform, founded by procurement advisor Tony Corrigan, scores tender submissions against core evaluation pillars used by government buyers.
Irish Tech News reported that Ireland's public procurement market is worth over €21 billion annually, yet one in four government contracts receive one or zero bids. Despite 80 per cent of contracts being won by SMEs, the majority of small and medium-sized businesses do not compete for public tenders.
BidReview was built from analysis of more than 750 winning tenders and over 3,500 public sector competitions. The platform provides businesses with evidence-based assessment of competitiveness before submission, identifying where proposals are strong and where improvement is required against evaluation criteria.
Tony Corrigan, founder of BidReview, said: "You wouldn't submit your company accounts without an independent audit. You wouldn't launch a product without testing it. Yet businesses regularly submit €250,000 tenders without any objective assessment of their likely score. BidReview will fill that gap."
Corrigan added: "AI tools have made it faster to generate a bid but faster doesn't mean better. Because of AI's use in tendering, evaluators are now seeing more generic submissions. But the real advantage comes from understanding how a buyer will actually score your response. That's what BidReview is built to do."
The platform targets business owners and managing directors viewing public contracts as growth channels but lacking clarity on competitiveness before submission. BidReview aims to make bid review a standard step in the tendering process, addressing the gap between tender preparation and submission.
