Ireland’s technology procurement market is gaining additional scale as pan-European IT services provider Bechtle acquires Dublin-based reseller ITQuotes, expanding its capabilities in hardware, software, deployment and lifecycle services for enterprise and public-sector customers. Announced on 23 October, the deal strengthens Bechtle’s local presence while creating opportunities to connect Irish buyers with a wider European technology network.

According to Telecompaper, ITQuotes operates through Technology First Ltd and generated more than €30 million in revenue in its most recent financial year, with a team of around 20 employees. The acquisition is Bechtle’s first in Ireland, building on its existing presence in the market since 2008.

For procurement teams, the strategic value lies in the combination of local customer relationships and broader purchasing capability. Bechtle expects the deal to create efficiencies in procurement, vendor management and digital purchasing processes, while strengthening its ability to deliver technology and services across multiple European locations. These capabilities could help customers coordinate complex requirements across hardware, infrastructure, cloud and cybersecurity.

The development is particularly relevant to public-sector buyers and large organisations managing diverse technology estates. A broader service portfolio can give procurement teams more options when sourcing equipment, planning deployments and securing ongoing support. Consolidated purchasing and lifecycle services may also help organisations simplify supplier management, although actual savings will depend on their requirements and the terms available.

Bechtle’s official acquisition announcement confirms that ITQuotes’ founders and co-owners, Joe Finucane and Brian Lehane, will remain during the integration period. Maintaining their local expertise and customer relationships will be important as the combined business expands its offering. Financial terms of the acquisition have not been disclosed.

The opportunity extends beyond immediate purchasing. Access to a wider portfolio of managed services, cloud solutions and cybersecurity could help organisations align technology investments with longer-term operational needs. For suppliers and procurement professionals, the deal also highlights the growing importance of combining competitive sourcing with deployment expertise, lifecycle support and the ability to serve customers across borders.

For the sector, the lesson is direct: stronger procurement capability can create value when purchasing scale is matched with local knowledge and dependable service. By combining ITQuotes’ established Irish relationships with Bechtle’s wider resources, the acquisition creates a platform for broader technology sourcing and more integrated support for Ireland’s public and private sectors.
